State Arboretum of Virginia
For the last day of holiday. We drove from Charles Town West Virginia to visit the city of Winchester, Virginia. After a nice visit at a tourist office located in Winchester. We decided to relax and enjoy a visit to the State Arboretum of Virginia. It is a very nice place again to relax and to enjoy being on vacation. I have incldued some photos!
The State Arboretum of Virginia is part of Blandy Experimental Farm, a research field station for the University of Virginia. The Arboretum collection includes a Virginia Native Plant Trail, the largest variety of boxwood cultivars in North America, and more than 6,000 trees and woody shurbs including a third of the world's pine species. The collection emphasizes native trees and woody shrubs and their exotic relatives. It is the only mature arboretum on limestone soils on the east coast. The grounds are open dawn to dusk, 365 days a year, free of charge.

Harpers Ferry National Park, West Virginia
A very happy part of our holiday visiting the USA State of West Virginia. Was our vists to Harpers Ferry National Park. It is a place of extream beauty and preserved history. The Shenandoah River ends it's journey and flows into the Patomac River, within the National Park. My brother and I very much enjoyed our 2 visits during our vacation. Harpers Ferry National Park, is the kind of place. That after you arrive. You are in no hurry to leave.
Here is some of the important history preserved in Harpers Ferry National Park. The town is named after Robert Harper. Harpers Ferry became a very important transporation hub and important place of manufactroing. Abolitionist John Brown, who atempted to end slavory pre Amercian Civil War. Led a raid on the Amrmoy located in the town of Harpers Ferry. The raid failed and John Brown was captured and stood trial in Charles Town and when found guilty of insurection, was later executed.
I have included my photos of our visit to Harpers Ferry National Park.

Lots of Civil War battles were founght in this area of the USA. Also we had the pleasure of visiting Harpers Ferry National Park! Lots of impressive natuaral beauty and lots of history in this very unique place. It is the kind of place. When you arrive there. It is very hard to leave. Because the natural beauty is so heathy for your mind and soul! I will be doing a blog post soon on Harpers Ferry National Park.
We enjoyed our visit to Charles Town Races. This historic old racetrack. Began hosting Thorughbred racing in 1933. It is a 3/4 mile racetrack. Very similar to the Greenwood Racetrack that use to exit in Toronto. Greenwood was closed and torn down in 1993. Charles Town Races also features a huge casino. Which wwould make any fan of casino gambling very happy. This huge entertainment complex is loated in a small city with only the popultation of 6,600 people!
