Dry Creek Falls via the Pacific Crest Trail

I am on a positive roll on my Portland adventure. Today I went on another dream hike. This hike was to find and enjoy Dry Creek Falls. To find this pristine beautiful place. It meant hiking on the world famous "Pacific Crest Trail" This incredible hiking trail runs for 2663 miles (4268KM)from British Columbia all the way to Mexico.
The PCT Trail was conceived by Clinton C. Clarke in 1932. It was designated a National Scenic Hiking Trail in 1968, and was not completely finished until 1993.
During the hike I did meet some other friendly fellow nature lovers. They gave me some advise on finding the Dry Creek Falls. After arriving at the falls and taking some great pictures. I used my alcohol hiking stove to cook up a great lunch on the trail. My lunch consisted of; some dried turkey, a hot chicken vegetable noddle soup, a cheese cracker, and a instant hot coffee was my beverage. An average meal, never tasted so good!!
After lunch I completed my hike. By retracing my steps back to my rented Toyota Camry. Distance of today's hike was 3.12 miles.

The Hawthorne Distract

I have to do a post on the "Hawthorne Distract". This great area of of Portland has been my home during all my time visiting this world class city. I did a walk about my neighborhood this afternoon. Also I did some tax free buying, and got my vinyl fix . Shopping at Crossroads records. This happening district is a mix of very green residential areas, an also an eclectic mix of eccentric and conventional shopping and dinning.
Enjoy the photos.

Portland, or Bridgeland???

I enjoyed another great day today. Enjoying to live life in the Pacific Northwest. I rented a bike from the hostel, and set out to really explore the "City of Roses".
Now to explain my title. After you view some of the pictures from this post you may agree with my idea for a name change of this great city. From Portland to Bridgeland. I have to admit to feeling fantastic getting a second change to ride my bike over the 101 year old Hawthorne Bridge. This living piece of history is the centerpiece of the 10 bridges that cross the Willamette River. That connect the downtown part of Portland to the rest of the neighborhoods that make up the Greater Portland Area.
I did ride along the river for awhile and enjoyed the views. I then rode across the "Steel Bridge". Which is the second oldest Bridge located in Portland. Built in 1913 the Steel Bridge is the only double deck vertical lift bridge in the world.
After I rode back across the Steel bridge to the downtown. I stopped for a snack. That consisted to toast and some excellent coffee at "Fuller's Coffee Shop". Which has been a popular eatery here in the City of Roses or Bridges, since 1947.
I continued to ride towards "Washington Park". Which is one of the beautiful city parks located here in Portland. At this point of my bike ride. It looked like rain was imminent. So it was now time to stop for lunch. Good luck was on my side as I found an excellent Thai Restaurant to have lunch. My lunch was superb! It consisted of grilled pork skewers, Thai salad and sticky rice.
After lunch I finished the ride to Washington Park. Then I rode back to the hostel to relax and do some shopping in the Hawthorne Distract.

Hiking Horsetail Falls

During the afternoon today. I completed an amazing hike of the "Horsetail Falls". There are 3 falls located above the Horsetail Falls. That cannot be seen unless you put in the effort to go looking for them. The most fantastic falls was "Triple Falls". It was worth the effort I put into today, during my hike. Take a look at the pictures.

Vista Point

I stopped into visit "Vista Point" again. I took a few more photos. I can't get enough of being there. I'm trying for the perfect picture of this fantastic viewpoint of the Columbia River.
