The Beauty of The White Sands!!!

Yesterday I arrived back in the New Mexico City of Alamogordo. Now I was just about 20 miles away. Driving due west to reach "The White Sands" National Monument. It is by far one of the most unique and beautiful scenic wonders located on our Planet Earth. I made it back for my second visit.

Here are my photos taken during my time enjoying the peace and beauty of this natural wonder. The camera responsible for these photos was my Canon Rebel XT digital camera.

The Joy Of Driving The Open Road

 driving highway 40 easetbound
Certainly the touring travelling vacation has always been enjoyed by me. I have enjoyed this type of vacation since my 1984 Florida trip.

Three years ago during my first New Mexico trip. One of the supreme pleasures of that trip was driving through this beautiful place. The "Land of Enchantment" offers varied scenery in the most scenic desert area on Planet Earth. Also and very important the roads here in New Mexico are kept in excellent condition. Also when you get away from the populated areas. A lot of the major roads become void of any serious traffic congestion. Making the driving here very safe! Compared to driving today in any major cities.

I have included some photos of driving the open road here in U.S.A. State of New Mexico. Driving a car here and being on vacation. Can be a very enchanting experience!!!

My rented 2020 Toyota Camry. Great car to drive. Including interactive cruise control. When the car is set at a speed. The car has the ability to see the car that you are following. The Camry will slow down the cruising speed to keep at a safe following distance. And will adjust back to the set speed. When it is safe to do so.

A short drive to try and locate the "Trinity Site".These photos were taken on 380 westbound, driving back to highway 25.

The Resting Place of "Billy The Kid"

After leaving Santa Rosa, I was now on my way to the city of Clovis, New Mexico. during this trip. I passed through the town of Fort Sumner. Where on July 14, 1881. The famous outlaw "Billy The Kid" was killed by Sheriff Pat Garrett.

I had to see his resting place. Where Henry McCarty which was his real name was resting in peace. During his life lived in the Great State of New Mexico. Henry changed his name to William H. Bonney, and became know as Billy The Kid.

During his short life. Billy the Kid's life was full of adventure. He made and did the best he could living under difficult circumstances. Doing my research about him.

Here is a link if you want to learn more about the real facts about Henry McCarty, aslo well known as Billy The Kid!

A Visit to Santa Rosa

Photos from Santa Rosa Lake State Park
When I selected my rented car for this trip. I made a decision  before I left on this holiday. I switched my reservation with the Alamo Rent a Car company. I was rewarded for my decision.Getting great service and the choice of several very nice new cars to choose from. My choice was a 2020 Toyota Camry. I love driving this car. I am going to do a post about this car coming up!

My choice to begin this holiday was to drive east away from Albuquerque. To visit the city of Santa Rosa. It was a good choice to begin this trip. The drive was a pleasant to get to Santa Rosa. Getting use to driving the Camry. It is not hard at all for me to bound with this great automobile.

Using my Garmin GPS. I found the proper directions to find my lodging in Santa Rosa. Which is located very close to the "Blue Hole" a sinkhole that is 81 feet deep, filled with crystal clear water. And has a constant temperature of 61 degrees F. This unique place is very popular with scuba divers.

I also went to visit the Santa Rosa Lake State Park. I took some photos just to relax and get fully into holiday mode. The next stop on my itinerary will be the city of Clovis, located further to the east of Santa Rosa.
