Today was a trip down memory lane for my brother John and I. We were intending to enjoy watching a Bison Baseball Game in Buffalo today. However the traffic on the Queen Elizabeth Way proved too congested. John and I were not going to make the 1:10 first pitch. So we decided to enjoy plan "B".
Which would be a visit to Ft. Erie Ontario. Then enjoy the scenic Niagara River drive all the way to "Niagara On The Lake"
John and I had a short visit to old Fort Erie Racetrack. Which we will always contain very fond memories from our horse racing past. Then for lunch we enjoyed eating at "Green Acres" family restaurant. That has been a popular Fort Erie place to enjoy a great meal since 1961.
The Wolfe Family has enjoyed eating there since around 1974. Green Acres is famous for serving up hardy home cooked meals. Very large portions. Very fair prices and yes they still serve "Loganberry Juice". The famous beverage that was a part of the history of Crystal Beach Amusement Park. This famous Amusement Park was allowed to close it's doors for good in 1989.
It was a special feeling when I walked into Green Acres today. John and I haven't eaten there in years! To my pleasure. Nothing has changed since that last time that we enjoyed a meal there. Yes and the food is still great!
Green Acres restaurant is located at 1554 Garrison Rd, Fort Erie, ON L2A 5M4
