Catch The Spirit!!!

During my first visit to the Smithsonian Museums, during this holiday. I went into The American History Museum. One of the main exhibits is a surviving American Flag that dates back to the war of 1812. The siege of Baltimore, and the survival of the United States during this time. Inspired Francis Scot Key to write the National Anthem of the United States "The Star Spangled Banner".

Next stop was to Air and Space. Lots to see and do here.

I have posted some great photos of the Spirit of St. Louis. One of the most influential and historic airplanes that will ever take to the air. On the morning of Friday, May 20, 1927. The 9 cylinder Wright J-5C engine sprang to life. And would run continually for the next 33 and 1/2 hours. Propelling Charles A. Lindbergh and "The "Spirit of St. Louis" from Roosevelt Airfield in Long Island New York to Le Bourget Aerodrome in Paris France. This would become the first successful solo transatlantic crossing. Both The Spirit of St. Louis and Charles Lindbergh would reamain an important part of history forever!!! Enjoy the pictures!
