Made It!!!!

Greeting from Washington D.C. I am writing this post from the Hostel International Hostel. The trip is off to a very good.

The flight went smooth from Toronto. Only an hour to get checked in, and to get screened and through all of the security at Pearson Airport.

The flight down was nice and comfortable. Also it was a neat experience landing at Reagan National Airport. As good friend Al pointed out before I left on this trip. None of the flights coming in our out of Reagan National Airport are allowed to fly directly over the White House for security reasons. So on the final approach for landing to avoid flying near the White House. The airplane is flying away from the runway. Then when passed the White House a quick right hand turn is made to fly in for the landing. That is very unique.

After checking into the hostel. I did a walking tour to see the Ford's Theater, and the White House.

Then I went to see the Kennedy Center of the performing Arts. Very impressive place. They do have free shows at the Kennedy Center, on the "Millenium Stage" every night at 6pm.

There is a lot to see and do in this prestigious old city. Lots of history here. Please stay tuned for what is to come!!!

  1. Notice on the second picture of the "White House". You can see the tip of the "Washington Monument", rising above the left side of "The White House".

  2. That approach is called the River Visual onto runway 19. Or most airlines use the RNAV (GPS) approach I would imagine. Cool you got the winds for that one DW!

Love the Penn Ave sign as I seen the same one when I was there (comp[lete with evac route).
