Los Alamos & The Bomb!

Today I got to enjoy my passion to visit places of history! I got to visit and enjoy the town of Los Alamos. The place where the first atomic weapons were designed and constructed in 1943-45.

Yes it is sad to say that ever since their has been our species dominating life on our planet Earth. We have been in conflict each other! For lots of reasons. Fighting over religious beliefs, different cultural ways to live, or just to take away and conquer less progressive people.

In the case of World War 2. An evil man named Adolf Hitler and his Nazi German Regime were set on conquering and dominating the entire world! The also evil Japanese Government were in partners with the Nazi's and were set to take over and control all of Asia.

The race was on to develop and create weapons of mass destruction. Which would determine the winner of World War 2. The question that had to be answered. Who would develop such a weapon of mass destruction first? Would it be The United States of America or the pure evil that directing the leaders of Germany and Japan.

Lucky for our side. One of the brilliant scientists of all time. A Jewish German man named Albert Einstein. Had fled Nazi Germany and moved to the United States. To avoid persecution and live the rest of his live living in the United States. Mr Albert. Einstein was the catalyst  behind the "Manhattan Project". In 1942 The U.S. government made the decision that a nuclear bomb was possible. And that it had to developed and built before Nazi Germany could build such a weapon of mass destruction.

The "Manhattan Project" would proceed under the leadership of leading scientist Robert Oppenheimer. The mountain plateau town of Los Alamos, New Mexico would be chosen for the location where the first Atomic Weapons would be designed and built! Many dedicated people from all over the world would work together to make this horrible weapon possible. The first successful nuclear test explosion took place in southern New Mexico on July 16, 1945. Leading to the first Nuclear attack on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. Which finally would lead to the end of World War Two. The bloodiest warfare that our planet Earth has ever witnessed. The hope is that Nuclear Weapons will continue to act as a deterrent to any future World Conflicts.

My day was enjoyed starting with the drive up to Los Alamos from Santa Fe which is about 30 miles. On arrival I went to visit the tour office. The pleasant informative lady working in the tourist office advised. That their was a good walking tour today stating at 11am. I was in time to go on that tour. Which I did. The tour was enjoyed as both our guides did a great job. I enjoyed a very good lunch at a local sandwich shop. Then enjoyed some quality learning time at the Bradbury Science Museum.

The above photos from my walking tour.

The pictures from inside the Bradbury Museum. The above photo of the replica of "Fat Man" is not mine as my photo did not turn out.
