Very Enchanting!

Today was a day of learning more of the reasons. Why they call the U.S. State of New Mexico. The "Land of Enchantment".

After I left the town of Socorro. I started out for Billy The Kid Country. My first destination of the day would be Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. Billy The Kid (William Bonney) was an infamous outlaw in the Lincoln Country area of New Mexico in the late 1800's.

My first stop of the day. Would be a sign posted at the turnoff for NM Route 525. For this was the way to reach the "Trinity Test Site". Where the first Atomic Explosion took place on July 16, 1945. A day that would change the world forever. For the better and for the worse! I was only about 10 miles from this place of important history. However tourists are only permitted to visit the Trinity site the first Saturday's of April and October. I reflected on what has occurred here, so many years ago. Then I took a few photos. Then continued on my journey.

I enjoyed the drive on the day very much. As the scenery I drove through would change throughout the drive. I reached the beautiful mountain town of Ruidoso. Where one of the most successful horse racing venues is located. Ruidoso Downs racetrack is the home to both Quarter-Horse and Thoroughbred Racing. As this horse racing venue is the home to the richest Quarter-Horse race in North America. "The All American Futurity". After enjoying lunch at the Casino and losing a $10 bet on a race run at Tampa Bay Downs in the Casino Sports Book. I also lost $2 playing a $.1 slot machine. In The Billy the Kid Casino.

I then took a few photos of the racetrack and headed on my way in the direction of the New Mexico City of Roswell. This part of the journey. The scenery of the desert changed. At this point I couldn't imagine the scenery I was now seeing. Very similar if I was visiting our Moon perhaps. The weather was almost 80 degrees Fahrenheit on my arrival. Visiting the famous UFO Museum located here in Roswell is a must for this trip. I will enjoy the museum tomorrow morning. Then travel to Carlsbad so I will have the chance to hike underground and enjoy to see and experience the Caverns.

Also always appreciating great food. I enjoyed a great dinner at a local Mexican Restaurant named "Cerritos". I feasted on a delicious meal of chicken fajitas. One of the best Mexican meals I have enjoyed. Cerritos can be found at 2103 N Main St Roswell NM 88201

Driving east going towards Lincoln County.

My photos of Ruidoso Downs Racetrack.

The desert scenery outside of Roswell looks being on the Moon.

Blue Moon shinning over Roswell, NM about 4:44 PM local time.
