North Padre Island- National Seashore

Well happy to report. This has been the best day of the trip, so far. The weather was beautiful today. It must of been over 70 degrees Fahrenheit, and bright sunshine.

I enjoyed a good breakfast at the IHOP today. Just in case you don't know. IHOP stands for "International House of Pancakes". It may stand for that, however I did not counsume any hotcakes today. Pancakes are really not my thing. I did enjoy a veggie omelette , with an order of wheat toast and fresh fruit for desert. I washed it down a pot of hot coffee.

I defiantly needed the energy as I was in for another challenging bike ride. I went to visit and experience the "National Seashore" national park, located on North Padre Island. It was about a 22 mile drive from my Motel 6 location.

I have enjoyed some amazing experiences during my past travels. This day proved to be another of those special days. These days will never happen if you are content just to stay at home. You have to venture out, and make good things happen!!!!

After arriving at the visitors center in the park. I had the chance to have a guided tour, from one of the park rangers. In this case. It was a lovely young lady, who's name is Chelsea, was our guide. If you have a chance to take these tours if you visit a U.S. National Park. Go for it! They are amazing! You will learn things that will add a lot to your experience. Also they are free.

After my tour. I could not wait to get my mountain bike out of the car. To hit the beach and start to ride. Yes the sand on this amazing beach is so fine, and compacted. It is firm enough to ride a bike on. Or even to drive your car on. You can actually drive or ride for 70 miles down the coast of North Padre Island, on the beach. Nothing but blue sky, blue water, and sand. This is what I have been dreaming about, when I started to plan this vacation.

This expedience was just fantastic. I rode out on the beach for about 8 miles. Enjoying the amazing scenery, and sounds from the Gulf of Mexico. I did have lunch with me on this bike ride. I enjoyed Mandarin Asia Noodles , and a hot coffee for lunch. This was made possible. Because I took along my alcohol burning, micro camping stove. With me on this trip. My lunch tasted great.

Time to enjoy the pictures of this amazing time!!!!

  1. When Elvis Costello sang "I Don't want to go to Chelsea", he wasn't singing about her!
