The Roman Colosseum 70AD

Today was a monumental day during my European vacation 2015. I had the chance to visit and tour the Roman Colosseum! A total dream come true! You think about all of the structures that have been built on our planet. What is their life span? Most building are lucky to last for 100 years. Especially if they are sporting venue. By todays standards. I sure the life span is a lot less. For example the Jewel of Major League Baseball Parks "Ebbets Field" only lasted a minute 48 years. Compare this to the Roman Colosseum built in between 70 and 80 AD and has managed to survive over 2000 years!!!! Ebbets Field was designed based on the Roman Colosseum. Not a bad seat in the venue. With a very intimate view of the action at all times.

The old place is still in remarkable shape. Considering it survived a massive earthquake, and wars and people who just wanted to steal the stones it was made from. Certainly the Colosseum is an engineering wonder of the world. Totally mind blowing that the people who designed and built the Colosseum. Did it without any help from computers or modern equipment in the construction. The Colosseum was certainly built beyond it's time. That is why it is still apart of our time, today. I have included my pictures that I took today, of living history!
